06/11/2013 - The Special Report on Stakeholder Advice to Policy
Makers is now available

At the conclusion of the CATALYST project, selected Think Tank Members from the UN, research, NGO and SME sectors were interviewed to find out what they considered to be the most urgent policy recommendations they would make to policy makers, in order to support their sector's work on DRR/CCA. They were then also asked about their recommendations for restructuring national and international funding mechanisms to support their sector. This report presents the responses of 11 Think Tank Members in the form of individual contributions, from which a summary of their main recommendations has been made. more...

The training module is intended to provide practitioners working in the areas of disaster risk management and climate change with a better understanding of the practice of DRR and CCA. The training materials are available to registered users on the E-learning platform of the United Nations University- Institute for Environment and Human Security: UNU-EHS online learning platform for Knowledge Exchange. Adaptation depends on co-operation among farmers, which at the same time is based on shared knowledge and information. This is demonstrated in several cases in various regions of the world as described in this article by Timmerman et al. The article demonstrates the influence that farm communities, when they act collectively, can have on authorities. While community action is more effective, the interaction between and among communities has also proven to contribute to the dissemination of good practices, as was demonstrated in the CATALYST project. more...

TERI Report on Climate Proofing Guwahati, Assam City resilience strategy and Mainstreaming Plan

The city of Guwahati in Assam, India was an integral part of the assessment to identify channels for integrating adaptation and disaster risk reduction measures in planning and development. The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) together with the Asian Cities Climate Change Resilience Network (ACCCRN), and have assessed the risk and vulnerability of the city and prepared a detailed City Resilience Strategy (CRS). The focus of the assessment is to facilitate adaptation initiatives and mainstream them into the city development paradigm to make Guwahati city more resilient and prepared for hazards.
