CATALYST is an EU funded project that brings together those working in the general field of Capacity Development for Hazard Risk Reduction and Adaptation in order that they can identify and share information about best practices, identify knowledge gaps, and strengthen and extend existing networks.

The campaign, launched in May 2010 by the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR), addresses issues of local governance and urban risk. The JTI Foundation is pleased to announce a new award, to be made jointly with the Global Risk Forum Davos. The JTI Foundation Resilience Award, of 175,000 Swiss francs, will be conferred in August 2012 at IDRC Davos to a project that demonstrably improves outcomes for communities subject to foreseeable disaster risks by promoting original and practical research into capacity-building in the field of resilience. more...

The UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) today launched a new initiative to support cities around the world to manage risk following the worst year on record for economic losses from disasters.
